Support Devon’s Heritage

Please consider making a donation to the Devon Historic Churches Trust

Colyton West WindowThereby helping to ensure we are able to provide the grants that are needed now to repair and maintain our wonderful Christian architectural heritage so that they are able to continue as places for Christian worship.

The Devon Historic Churches Trust is a registered charity.
It was inaugurated in 1973 to raise funds to repair and preserve churches and chapels, of all denominations, throughout Devon.

Often the work required to maintain or repair a church is beyond the means of the local congregation and community.  A grant from the Devon Historic Churches Trust, whilst not always meeting the full cost of what is required, encourages local fund raising efforts and other charitable funding sources to finance the work that needs doing.

Devon’s churches have been a focal part of life in the county for centuries, providing both a spiritual and a physical focus for the communities they serve.  They are an important part of the landscape and of our natural heritage.  With your help we can ensure that they remain so.

These churches also contain so much of our heritage by way of wood and stone carvings, ornate screens and stained glass windows – when the buildings fail these historical treasures are at risk also.
